A Short Introduction

Solarplaza organizes high-level events - focused on solar power and related renewable energy topics - in both established and emerging solar energy markets across the globe. With a track record of 225+ events and a network that truly spans the entire world, our mission is to positively impact the world by accelerating the renewable energy transition by facilitating knowledge-sharing at our events and through our content. In 2024 we expect to execute 24 events. At the same time, we are building out our Solarplaza.com into the global leading online platform for the energy industry where executives can actively participate, connect, create leads, find resources and events, trainings, and post opportunities, vacancies, and more.


What does this role look like

As Web Platform Product Owner, your primary responsibility will be to manage and grow the Solarplaza Platform project, shaping it into a key part of our long-term strategy. You will oversee the development process, working closely with freelance web developers, while ensuring internal alignment with key teams (Marketing, Sales, CEO, Support). You will be responsible for translating the platform’s vision into tangible functionalities and managing project timelines, reporting directly to the CEO.


Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Solarplaza Platform web development process, including planning and delegating tasks to freelancers and external experts.

  • Act as the Product Owner, overseeing the development and implementation of new functionalities on the platform.

  • Ensure the financial and commercial success of the platform, focusing on its growth and business potential.

  • Contribute to the development of platform strategy and organizational goals for 2025.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Sales, Support) and the CEO to ensure project alignment and progress.

  • Build and maintain a network of partners and freelancers to support ongoing platform development.

Job requirements

Competencies

  • Experienced in both project management and product ownership, particularly with web development projects.

  • Skilled in collaborating & delegating tasks to freelancers and managing web development with external parties.

  • Ability to prioritize company objectives while effectively communicating and supporting management decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills with a result-driven mindset, working in a structured and efficient manner.

  • Service-oriented with a strategic mindset, always thinking from the customer’s perspective.

  • Entrepreneurial and ambitious, looking for opportunities to drive the growth of the platform and the business.


Profile

  • Highly experienced project manager in web development, with a proven track record at (senior) management level, preferably in a scale-up environment.

  • Experience managing Django/Python web projects.

  • Proven ability to realize commercial success and meet financial targets.

  • Problem solver with flexibility to address unexpected challenges, including those that arise after hours.

  • Fluent in English and comfortable working in an international environment.

  • You are resident in the Netherlands, have a valid work permit, and can work from our Rotterdam office at least 3 days per week.

  • Available to work at least 32 hours per week, with a strong preference for full-time availability.
