Solar Value Chain Researcher (Student job)

Collecting, structuring, processing, and verifying key information on organizations active in the global solar industry and capturing their focus, products & services.

Curious about sustainability and the vast opportunities that the solar industry holds? Getting started in this growing industry can be daunting. With this job, we offer a unique opportunity to learn about the entire solar energy value chain and get a broad lay of the land by zooming in on the many different aspects of the industry. You will be part of a team of students researching, collecting, categorizing, processing, and verifying detailed information on (the activities and services of) organizations active in the solar value chain for a new platform service by Solarplaza.

Before starting, you will receive guidance and gain access to an internal onboarding environment to learn some of the basics regarding the solar industry and solar value chain. You’ll work together with the international team of Solarplaza.

We are looking for students with an availability of 12-16 hours per week, for a period of at least 6 months, who can start in September! When successful, this period can be extended, and other opportunities within the organization could be explored. To facilitate teamwork and collaboration, we are looking for students located in The Netherlands, ideally in the vicinity of Rotterdam.


  • Internet research: collecting and verifying information on companies and organizations active in the global solar energy value chain

  • Categorizing and labelling these organizations based on their services and geographical focus

  • Processing company data in our custom Content Management System (CMS)

  • Cross-checking (contact) information with our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) environment

  • Verifying and approving proposed edits from customers (once the platform is up and running)

  • Tagging and labelling content resources to allow them to be matched with the organizations in the database

  • Perform other tasks related to research and data collection/enrichment in support of our events and other core activities

Job requirements


  • Enrolled in a university

  • Technical, Engineering, Life Sciences or Economic background with an interest in Renewable Energy

  • Self-incentivized, getting-things-done mentality

  • Able to work independently and remotely

  • Precise and accurate, eye for detail, diligent in research

  • Curious/learning mindset

  • Fluent in English; Fluency in other languages can be a plus
