Job description
Are you passionate about renewable energy? Looking for a result-driven role within a purpose-driven, international company? Are you a go-getter, relationship builder and curious? Then you could be our new Program & Event Manager!
We are Solarplaza
Solarplaza is a global leading organizer of high-level international solar energy and storage conferences around the world. We offer knowledge and networking solutions for the renewable energy industry in both established and emerging markets across the globe. With 40+ young professionals from 15 different countries, we work to accelerate the energy transition from our Rotterdam office. Over the past 20 years, we have built a global network with the aim of positively impacting the world by accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
Your role and mission
You will be a spill in the global energy transition, by defining, planning and executing high-quality events in the Solar industry.
You will be in charge of preparing the business cases of our conferences, manage dedicated budgets and targets.
You will define the look and feel of the conference and are responsible for the overall quality of the program, the speakers and presentations/panels for each session.
You will coordinate the project team working on each conference, and collaborate closely with our Event Coordinators, Marketeers and Business Developers.
You research and detect the new trends in Solar Energy and Energy Storage, and organise your events based on relevant new information.
You love connecting and talking to (new) market stakeholders, our Advisory Board Members, increasing your network, and building relationships.
You can listen and quickly follow the discussion on topics you may not be fully familiar with but your curiosity and sense of investigation make you ask the right questions and quickly find out potential for a conference program or potential speakers.
You are able to manage stakeholders, markets and topics for several events in parallel!
Here’s what your day will look like as our Program & Event Manager
You start your day with the team, checking in over a coffee while sharing your plans and goals for the day. You learn from Nicola and Frannie what was well appreciated in last week's conference and what kind of feedback was provided. From this, you decide to adapt the content of your own event in Greece in 4 months and keep in mind Spain in 6 months. You then spend a bit of time researching some content for this next trend in the use of solar combined with agriculture and how the investors perceive it or what are the barriers in some geographies. You share your learning with your peers before heading for lunch at La Cantina! You discuss with your colleague your weekend plan. After lunch, you check in Salesforce on the status of the sponsors' proposal for your event with Ward and decide to have a quick catch-up to see if you could help or provide some insights. They give you some hints on what was difficult to sell in the program and you look at how you could improve it. You then follow up with Alyce on how you can adapt the advertising campaign to the latest content and how you will highlight the new inspirational speaker you confirmed yesterday. You then prepare for your 1 on 1 meeting with your team lead to update her/him on project status and see how you want to build your skills and include them in your development plan. You finish with a few urgent emails, call it a day, and cycle home.
